The 2011 Tour
The 2011 tour offers two routes this year, a departure from the last six years. The ’11 tour offers our traditional five night, six day tour and for those that want to see a little more, we have a nine night, ten day extended tour. The first four days will be the same for both tours. Both tours will have two days in St. George, Utah, so members can vist Bryce and/or Zion National Parks. On the fifth day, those that choose the traditional tour will turn at Salt Lake City and head west towards home. The extended tour will head to Logan, Utah, to enjoy the Cache Valley area for two days. There will be a day in Twin Falls, Idaho for those that did not get a chance to enjoy the falls at Shoshone Falls Park last year, a lunch in beautiful Boise, Idaho, and a night in Ontario, Oregon, before heading back to Reno.
The tour works in conjunction with the local Chambers of Commerce and business leaders of towns they stop at and they always ask, “What can we do for you and your charities”? The idea of the tour is to bring people in from all over the U.S. and Canada to see the towns in the rural areas, “the towns without the glitz and glitter”, according to Big Al and Gary. While 50 – 80 classic cars stop by and visit ghost towns, have lunch on Main Street, or have a bar-b-que, the local charities enjoy the crowds that come buy to reminisce and remember “the good old days”.
Nevada Magazine was kind enough to write an article about the tour and the people that go on it. Click on the Nevada Magazine logo below and check it out.
